Dr. Cheong received his medical education in the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. He underwent cardiology training in the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, London, Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong and Hopital Bichat Claude-Bernard, Paris.

Dr. Cheong has a special interest in complex coronary interventions, structural heart interventions including percutaneous valve repair and replacement and heart failure management, especially in the elderly.

He is currently a senior managing partner in Virtus Medical Group and its subsidiary - The Heart Clinic (Central), one of the largest private specialist medical groups in Hong Kong.

He is also a board member of the Chinese Medical Association of Hong Kong, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Macau University of Science and Technology Medical School and founding partner of Bioworld Ventures, a Hong Kong-based venture capital firm focused on the growth and commercialisation of cutting-edge medical technologies bi-directoonally between China and international markets.

Dr. Cheong has published in international journals, sits on the 1st Guangdong provincial internal medicine curriculum committee and authored a chapter on myocardial infarction for the European Society of Cardiology Textbook of Acute Cardiology.
